ELIANE ELIAS

Born in Brazil, Eliane’s musical talents began to emerge at an early age. She started studying piano at the age of seven, and by twelve she was already transcribing solos by the great jazz masters. At fifteen, she was teaching piano and improvisation at one of Brazil’s most prestigious music schools. Her performing career began in Brazil at seventeen, working with Brazilian singer and composer Toquinho and the great poet Vinicius de Moraes, who was also the co-writer/lyricist for Antonio Carlos Jobim. In 1981, she moved to New York, and in 1982 she secured a spot in the acclaimed group Steps Ahead. Her first solo album was a collaboration with Randy Brecker in 1984 titled Amanda, and in 1986 Eliane signed with Blue Note Records.
With 32 albums released and over 2.5 million copies sold to date, Eliane Elias has amassed 500 million streams on Spotify (with over 33 million streams of her song “Little Paradise” alone). She has toured in 77 countries, earned four Gold Disc awards, won Best Vocal Album three times in Japan, and received the Edison Lifetime Achievement Award in the Netherlands in 2018. Her 2019 and 2021 albums (Love Stories and Mirror Mirror) were voted “Best Album of the Year – Masterpiece” by DownBeat, and—as with most of her previous releases—her recordings reached number one on jazz charts worldwide. Eliane has received eleven GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations across five different categories, winning two GRAMMY Awards and two Latin GRAMMY Awards to date.
